Domestic Violence Awareness

Strongsville Women's League is currently presenting Domestic Violence Awareness displays at three locations in Strongsville:

(1) At the Ehrnfelt Recreation Center in the Main Lobby;
(2) At Westfield SouthPark Shopping Center in the hall between Brookstone's on one side of the hall and Claire's on the other side of the hall which leads to Malley's and Dillard's stores; and
(3) For students at the Strongsville High School where it is located near the Media Center.

Did you know that in a room of 50 people, approximately 2 to 4 persons are victims of domestic violence or know victims of domestic violence? Many victims don't talk about being victims because they are embarrassed to admit they are victims or they are afraid of their abusers.

If you need help or advice or know someone who needs help or advice, visit our display in the Ehrnfelt Recreation Center or at SouthPark Center and pick up a brochure and/or a wallet card, both of which have information and contact information for the Cleveland Domestic Violence Center. The display will be at SouthPark and the Ehrnfelt Recreation Center until the end of April.

If you prefer, you can just phone the Domestic Violence Center's confidential Hotline, 24-hours a day, at 216-651-8484. The Center has a 24-Hour Helpline that offers immediate and confidential crisis assistance, emotional support, and information. Domestic Violence is a pattern of abuse one person uses to maintain power and control over another in a relationship. Abuse can include physical harm, sexual abuse, threats, isolation, emotional and verbal control, and financial control. Violence is not the fault of the victim - and she/he deserves respect.

DON'T BE A VICTIM - You Are Not Alone! There is help available for you.
